At CommScope, your imagination can reimagine tomorrow. Modernize micro and pico cell sites to expand capacity and support LTE and 5G deployments. Provide flexibility, scalability and functionality as you expand your networks and roll out new technologies. Meet technical and functional requirements while taking care of aesthetics at the front of your copper and fiber networks. Safety starts with understanding how developers collect and share your data. Data privacy and security practices may vary based on your use, region, and age.
Of course, if you want to cut off access, you can also always physically unplug the Ethernet cable from the XB6. Presumably to ensure that the network could only be accessed through Wi-Fi. If you are using Internet Explorer 11 please disable Compatibility View in order to continue using all community features. The Port Forwarding is going to be set up in the BGW210 so you will not need to activate Port Forwarding on the account. Checking online at MonkeyMote and found you will need to create a pinhole in the firewall for TCP on port 19371. There's not going to be any few kb of data sending if the noise floor is too high, regardless of how decent the signal is.
Arris Secure Home Network.
The same setting is used in Gateway and Bridge mode. When the Allow All access type is selected, all client devices have access to the Internet. Client devices in the home network can be added to block Internet access. This is the recommended setup, as client devices will only need to be added to block Internet access when needed. The client devices can also be managed for time of day to be blocked.
That is for the users protection as the admin account has much more authority to carry out intended and unintended actions. @mandilou2373I can't think of anything other than keeping the XB6 in a locked enclosure. OP you can try bridge mode if using another router, but that's not guaranteed to really shut off the signal. The radios can be disabled, but you'll need to find someone competent enough at Comcast who knows A) what you're asking B) who knows how to do it.
SVG2482AC: Parental Control Block Internet Access
I don't know if there is a time dependent capability with NextDNS but it might be worth checking out. You should be able to go into your modem's settings and manually disable the Ethernet port but this may be a bit of a pain to do every day because you'll have to re-enable the port in the morning. With the installation of the new router, I cannot get the iphone app to connect. The MonkeyMote support person stated that I prolly needed to Disable Client Isolation in the Modem. I lose over 10% throughput on 2.4 when I enable 3-4 SSIDs and I can see the channel more congested.
Before LG got out of the phone market, they refused to put 5 GHz on most of their low-end to lower-midrange. At least Samsung has put 5 GHz on most of their US models of phones, but the international versions usually lacked it on the lower priced devices. You'll usually find 5 GHz lacking on low priced Nokias, TCLs, and ZTEs. Things have been getting better, but it's still not quite 100% yet. Forget 5 GHz DFS compatibility though on most 5 GHz devices, especially cheap ones lol.
Disable Arris XB6 Ethernet Ports?
Option to setup specific time or day to allow access. I do have a question based on the opening of your message. The Rogers technicians to whom I have been speaking have been unable to explain just how I can go about assigning rules to the port. Is it possible simply to block the ports with a command? (Perhaps via the firewall functions?) Thanks again for your detailed and thoughtful message.
I've noticed that ARRIS modem/router solutions provided by several ISPs give out way to match information via the public IP and the login portal. The SSID the router is broadcasting, the security level of the firewall and MoCA status are all just visible on the portal splash page. I was wondering if others have noticed similar things as well, even if it is from a different vendor. Vulnerabilities 2 and 3 affect the web-server feature on the NVG599 model. It turns out anyone can get administrative access by hitting port with the username "tech" and no password.
So you can choose which ethernet ports are enabled or disabled. I don't know if the Arris or Technicolor versions of the XB6 modem, which is used for the IPTV service has the same function. If not, there wouldn't be any way to run the same type of port rule as you can't or shouldn't be able to SSH into the modem. All of the modem ports and interfaces except the official user and tech support interface should be disabled externally and at the chip level. @DDAW1it depends on which modem you have as to whether or not you can simply block an ethernet port. Here's the Switch Control page from a Hitron CODA-4582 modem, where the ethernet ports can be enabled or disabled at will.
About 220,000 devices seem to be affected, per Nomotion. If you use an Arris or Motorola broadband modem, router or gateway provided by AT&T, better check your network device's configuration. Click the Allow AllAccess Type button then click the X button to remove the blocked access on client device under the Blocked Devices section. Block All - Block all client devices access to the Internet and add client devices to allow access.
"We pioneered the digital life protection space where we made it our mission to protect all the devices that our customers use," said John Giamatteo, Executive Vice President, Consumer Business Group at McAfee. Allow All - Allow all client devices access to the Internet and add client devices to block access. Some ISPs around the globe do offer these cable modems with routing function but it's always a best practice to use your own router/firewall behind any NTU .
With the COVID issues our son's school has gone online, so we're not in a position at the moment to just take the computer away. Until the COVID stuff settles, we'll need a technological solution. Also, if you're buying a cheap 2.4GHz only Android device, you have other financial issues to worry about than the 2.4 vs 5GHz device debate.. As let's be real, any decent phone over ~$150 or so should have at least basic 5GHz support. Hell, even the "free if you send us anything" phone from Visible I got 2yrs ago as a backup has 5GHz WiFI 5 support.
@DDAW1if the change in mac address is bypassing the assignment of an Ethernet port to a security group, then that is a failing of the security implementation. It shouldn't matter what is plugged into the port in question, that device should follow the rules as assigned to the port, not to the device. It would appear that the user function might be mislabeled or that the coder misinterpreted the software design requirements. And there are still a lot of 2.4 GHz devices being sold. Believe it or not, 2.4 GHz only phones still exist brand new.
I noticed that when I disable WIFI through the administration menu that the WIFI lights on the modem lights keep blinking - both the 2.2 and 5ghz. Access from a sepperate network, you can use a mobile phone for instance... Not looking for troubleshooting, looking to see if others have noticed that by accessing an ARRIS modem/router via it's public IP as I have stated that they have seen this as well. No I mean public IP, the web portal is displayed for the public IP and gives out the info. It will not allow a log in from the WAN port but it still shows this info no matter what.
Re: Disable Arris XB6 Ethernet Ports?
If this computer requires a wired Ethernet connection, I don't think there is much that you can do to secure the LAN ports. Unlike Wi-Fi, I don't know of way that you can apply filters to restrict access only to known MAC addresses. It sounds like you have the grey or black XB6 that is used for the Ignite TV service. There is a parental capability in that modem that I'm aware of. If so, there is a filter capability to prevent access to gaming and other sites.
